Outer Banks North Carolina Fishing Reports
Early morning trout bite.
I had Troy and Vanessa out for an early morning hunt for some Speckle Trout. We did have a good bite first thing until the wind kicked up and the bite shut down. That's how fishing goes.
The sound fishing is the best I've seen it in many years.Speckle Trout, Red Drum, Flounder, and Striped Bass can be caught at any given time. Several trips have produced limits. Call me if you're ready to go.
I decided to take freinds Steve & Ken, also Ken's son out for the first gulf stream trip of the season. I heard the Dolphin bite was good to the south, so rather than running the boat that far, we trailered the boat to Hatteras for a shorter ride. The morning started a little slow but the bite turned on in the afternoon. We caught some nice size fish and also lost a few too, but a beautiful day on the water
Sorry to say I haven't been fishing any due to the weather, no fish, or more weather. It's been the worst winter since I've been running trips. Since I had so much time to do nothing, I decided to get my right knee replaced. It's been hurting me for several years, so now was as good as any to do this. I'll be down for several weeks, but after that, I'm ready to fish. I am already booking a few trips for this spring and summer, so dont wait until the last minute to book. It's not going to get any chaeper. Thanks for eveyrone who went last year and I hope for another great season this year.
Well Christmas is next week and another year winds down. I would like to thank everyone that came out and fished with me this year. We had more good days than bad, which is always good thing. This summer was a great season for trout, but most were on the small size. I had some awesome summer offshore catching tuna, dolphin, wahoo, mackerel and others. Marc and I had another killer season fishing the SKA King Mackerel tournaments. We finished in the top five for NC and the top 20 in the National championship. I look foward to 2013, seeing returning clients and meeting new ones. God bless all of you and Happy Holidays.
