Outer Banks North Carolina Fishing Reports

Problems with reports.

I've had a few emails from customers that haven't been able to post replies to reports. I think its been fixed. We are just trying to keep out the spam to our site. By the way, we did catch some nice stripers yesterday up to 28lbs.

Best wish for the holidays, Ray

I do have some openings in January.

Fishing & Xmas

I would like to take this time and thank everyone who has fished with me this year. I’ve had tons of good trips with some very colorful folks and that’s why I enjoy it so much. I look forward to a fun filled season in 2007. I’d like to thank my sponsors, Pflueger, Shakespeare, All-Star rods, Pure Fishing, & Mercury Marine. I also can’t forget the local guys like TW’s bait & tackle, Stop & Shop, Whalebone tackle, & TI’s bait& tackle, and Steve & Joe at Joe’s Marine in Wanchese. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday

                    Best Wishes, Ray

Fish fry time

If the heat wave on the Outer Banks would ever end, we might get down to some serious rock fishing. Just when the water was starting to cool off, we start getting 65 degree days which warms the ocean water back out in the mid-50's. This won’t help get the big mac-daddy fish to us. We are catching fish, but its hard work to get a limit. My best day last week was with Donovan Tanner, Spencer Gates and his dad James. We decided to make the 40 mile run up north rather than bounce around the shoals. After making a few fruitless stops along the way, we stopped just south of Corolla lighthouse. As soon as the lines were in we boated three bluefish and one striper. We worked the area for several hours boating a few more stripers and blues. We lost one nice rock just before he got the gaff that would have been close to citation size. That’s my big fish story and I’m sticking to it. We are going to keep our finger crossed for cold weather.

Almost Striper fishing, really

Just when the Striper fishing was going to take off, it goes flat. We had several banner days of fishing on the shoals and then the Stripers almost disappeared. There are a few around, but it’s been hit and miss catching at best. Last weekend, I fished an ASA Striper tournament out of Virginia Beach and the Stripers were thick. Our biggest was 45.65lbs and was the second largest. We finished 3rd overall with a 2 fish total of 70.15 lbs being beat out of 2nd by 1/10 of a pound. I’m hoping these fish will be showing up on the Outer Banks within a week. Sunday Woodie Spruill and I caught over 100 Stripers and Bluefish. We got tired of catching fish, if you believe that. These were all 30lb plus fish and catching most of them two at a time.

The offshore tuna fishing has still been unbelievable. Most boats have been limiting out everyday they can get out. We’ll keep looking and wishing for the big Stripers inshore.

Upgrade on fishing report board.

Except for the last post, all the fishing reports are starting in 2005 and going backwards to 2006. We did an upgrade and it turned all of our post around.
I do have a few opening in Dec. & Jan. if you want to catch some Stripers.
Drop me a line and lets go wet one. The picture you see is a professional over-rev. This is what happens when you try to cast a trolling rod and not listen to the captain, but everyone makes mistake. It's all in a day of fishing.

Thanks, Ray
